Introduction

The only truly global survey of its kind, Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels’ Hotel Investor Sentiment Survey (HISS) identifies the weight of opinion of future trends and also establishes a benchmark position on a number of key issues from which future trends can be considered. The survey covers 93 major hotel and resort markets worldwide and is targeted at the world’s 6,000 leading investors and/or owners of hotel-resort properties for the markets within which they invest or track.

In our latest survey, market optimism takes another positive stride as expectations for global short term trading performance records its most marked increase since the survey’s inception. Sentiment is considerably higher than the low point recorded one year ago. After 18 months of stagnation, increased confidence has also translated into a change in global investment intentions with an increase in ‘buy’ and decrease in ‘hold’ sentiment.
