Introduction

The only truly global survey of its kind, Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels’ Hotel Investor Sentiment Survey (HISS) identifies the weight of opinion of future trends and also establishes a benchmark position on a number of key issues from which future trends can be considered. The survey covers 93 major hotel and resort markets worldwide and is targeted at the world’s 6,000 leading investors and/or owners of hotel-resort properties for the markets within which they invest or track.

JLLH-HISS-November-2011

Hotel Investor Sentiment Survey (HISS)
November 2011

While investor sentiment is more delicate than it was in our previous survey, respondents’ intentions to buy assets in the Americas is still strong, with 41.1 percent of investors evidencing an overlying intention to pursue acquisitions over the next six months.

Respondents expect hotel operating fundamentals to continue to grow in 2012, even if at a slower pace. The proportion of investors exhibiting a positive outlook for performance fundamentals over the next six months softened by 14 percent, but is still at a more favorable level than one year ago. The share of investors that have a positive performance outlook for the next two years has been only marginally impacted, decreasing by less than seven percent.
